Safety
Net
AC&C has answered the call to support
military families facing deployment by helping
to provide for the future of their pets.
AC&C's SAFETY
NET Program helps pets and their families
stay together through difficult financial
times or dislocations. Lately family crises
have begun to include the call to military
action of a primary member of a household.
In many cases around the country, the call
to service in the military creates a family
crisis that may necessitate the relinquishment
of a beloved pet.
In an effort
to support our troops, AC&C's SAFETY
NET program is expanding its mission by
providing our troops, called to action,
the assurance that every effort will be
made to place their relinquished pet into
a loving home.
SAFETY NET services cost money for which
AC&C is not reimbursed by the City of
New York. YOU CAN HELP. Send a gift
to AC&C for the SAFETY NET program and
help us.

BIG
FIX addresses the pet over-population crisis
at its source by sponsoring low- and no-cost
spay and neutering services for pets in
low-income households. Through regular,
community-based spay and neutering clinics
offered in neighborhoods throughout the
City, AC&C reaches out with information
and services that forestall the almost inevitable
day when un-neutered family pets produce
a litter of unmanageable offspring. In addition,
BIG FIX subsidizes the cost of adoption
to low-income families by defraying the
fee charged for the spaying or neutering
of every pet adopted through AC&C.

STAR
(Special Treatment and Recovery)
Provides medical treatment to injured animals
rescued by AC&C. On a daily basis, AC&C
encounters animals that would have been
euthanized immediately in another era. Homeless
and abandoned pets whose medical or behavior
condition is poor tend to be dismissed as
candidates for adoption even though many
of these animals are simply reacting to
the trauma of an injury or the impact of
a new circumstance and surroundings.
Through the STAR Program,
AC&C provides these animals with the
time and treatment needed to become adoptable
pets. This is done with the help and support
of volunteers, area veterinarians and foster
families willing to accept temporary placement
of an animal away from the shelter and in
a loving home.
Please consider making an online
tax deductible donation for the upkeep
of this program.
